Bio & Achievements:

Mitsuyo Maeda is considered critical to the development of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and it is in his honor that we have named the Maeda Project. Originally from Japan, Maeda was a Japanese judoka (judo expert) and prizefighter in no holds barred competitions.  He eventually migrated to Brazil where he would teach Carlos Gracie and Luiz Franca martial arts techniques that would later develop into modern day Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
